Here we are hanging out in Forsyth Park, listening to Jazz music and enjoying the family on a lazy Sunday evening! It was a great night with cool breezes, chicken from KFC, and hundreds of people with blankets on the ground, tables with glowing candles, children playing and some of Savannah’s best musicians entertaining the crowd. Life is good.
Hanging out in Savannah at Picnic In The Park

Posted in 1 with tags london, preachers, prince, spurgeon on October 1, 2008 by larrywilsonHe was called the prince of preachers and for good reason. He pastored the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London for 31 years. He could hold audiences spellbound with his great oratory and style. He was the first to have a “mega church”. A strong Calvinist, he never gave public altar calls but many were saved under his ministry. If you have never read or studied the life of Spurgeon, do yourself and your church a favor…study him and his ministry.

Where is Savannah Ga?
Posted in Church Planting with tags Forsyth Fountain, Savannah on July 11, 2008 by larrywilsonSavannah Ga. was founded in 1733 and is a beautiful city with lots of history and charming p
eople. One of the most photographed fountains in the United States is our very own Forsyth Fountain. It is gorgeous during the day and splendid at night with the lights illuminating it for everyone to see. There are lots of good churches in the area and Journey Church plans to become one of them and then some.

Multi Site Churches – Why?
Posted in Church Planting with tags Church Revolution, Greg Surratt, multi-site church, Tony Morgan on July 10, 2008 by larrywilson
Ok – I am 100% new to the multi-site concept. New in the sense that I have heard about it, know some churches that have done it successfully and new in the sense that I am about to jump in the water and trust God in this arena. Tony Morgan wrote a great article highlighting the book, “The Multi Site Church Revolution” by Surratt, Ligon and Bird. You can read it here – enjoy http://tonymorganlive.com/2006/09/13/the-multi-site-church-revolution/

Church Pirates… Great Stuff by Ed Young, Jr.

Check this out – great stuff and my hat is off to him for being bold enough to say it. Many church plants are led by really great men of God who are on the edge of faith everyday. BUT…. many are Church Transplants. There are many guiys who go into churches and stay there for a few years, develop a following and then pull out with a crowd of folks and play the “God Card”. Ed is the man to say it straight and plain. It makes sense if you have been in the ministry any length of time. Check it out.
Marriage & Your Best Friend
Posted in Marriage with tags best friend, couples, Marriage, romance, soul mates, tuesday on May 26, 2008 by larrywilson
I have the good fortune of being married to my best friend. That sounds corny but it is true. Tuesday and I spend tons of time together. We, as Dr. Phil likes to say, “co-parent” two children. We have a 5 year old little boy and a 3 year little girl. If I had to pinpoint the reasons we are so close I would have to say that it is not rocket science, religion, interests, or even chemistry. It is much simpler than all of those things.
I have known people who approached marriage as an “institution to be understood and figured out” and they were unhappy and it showed on their faces. I have known a go-zillion couples who had the same religion, believed the same things about the bible and went to the same church and yet were miserably married and unhappy and if given the option of doing it over together again would pass. I have known couples who enjoyed the same vacation spots, same books, political views and sports. That produced a good buddy and conversationalist but not a life partner. We all have known people who could “burn for each other” but that was all they had until morning and then they felt like strangers.
Here’s a phrase: soul mates. Sounds goofy, doesn’t it. But is sometimes very true. I have the good fortune of being married to my soul mate. I was extremely lucky to have met her, married her, experienced parenthood with her, served the Lord in church with her, been involved in business with her and to be called her best friend. Given the opportunity to marry her again I’d do it in a heart beat – or faster.
Steven Curtis Chapman … nothing sadder.
Posted in Real Life with tags Add new tag, Cinderella, Maria Sue, Music, Nashville, Steven Curtis Chapman on May 23, 2008 by larrywilsonAs much as is possible without being in the actual pain, I felt my heart break for the Chapman family when I read the news about his little 5 year old daughter. I have a 5 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. My little girl dresses up like Cinderella or Snow White everyday. We go to the mall, restaurants, and even the park with Cinderella or Snow White. She loves to wear those outfits – shoes and all! What can I say? Nothing. Words cannot capture the deep and intense pain they are facing. Here is a youtube clip of little Maria Sue and her dad on vacation in Florida.
Like you, we are praying for them.
